Learn Guitar Scales
To learn guitar scales is not a task for beginners and generally is for those who already know how to play the guitar a bit and are looking to improve their skills. The preferred option is to take a scale and then focus on mastering it. This might mean getting out of your comfort zone and self discipline is required. Get yourself familiar with one scale for as long as it takes for you to dominate it. If it takes you 30 days, so be it. To learn guitar scales properly takes time so dont fret about it (shocking pun).Alternatively get some one who is experienced to assist you.
There are 12 sections on a guitar's musical octave, same as a piano, and these divisions are called semitones defined by each fret. Sometimes other guitars have more but remember a scale starts and stops at each octave.
There are seven modes for the major scale, three for the minor scale. There are other guitar scales which are called the blue, pentatonic, and the whole tone scale.
You need to understand what it takes to master guitar notes as many people, new to the concept of guitar soloing, fail to realize that to master guitar notes, mastering guitar scales is necessary.
As it is important to learn guitar scales in order to get really familiar with notes, how then do you gain dominance of scales on the guitar? Well one of the ways is to learn all the scales that there are but that's impractical to accomplish in a short space of time as there are too many to learn. Trying to absorb them all will only spell doom. And this is where most guitarists get it wrong.
Most of these guitarists usually move on to the next scale before they have mastered the previous one and instead of gaining mastery, they never truly master any and what follows is predictable. A mess!

There are seven types of major scale, three for the minor scale an there are other guitar scales called the blue, pentatonic, and the whole tone scale. India and Spain introduced the diminished and other scales.
Pentatonic Scales
Many will say that this type of scale is the least complicated of all, this is because the pentatonic scale uses only five notes instead of the standard seven. the pentatonic scale is a must and crucial when you want to learn guitar scales.
There are two types of the pentatonic guitar scales: the major and the minor. Accordingly, the major scale is a lot more complicated than the minor. The difference is that the minor scale is shifted three frets from the major scale pattern. The major scale is commonly used in songs or music meant for the church.
The Blues Scale
The blues scale is like a modification of the A Minor Pentatonic Scale. This is done by adding an extra note to the pentatonic scale done by simply altering a common note or scale, thus adding flavor to the music. The blues scale is fundamental to ALL contemporary music and is often the first scale that people learn due to it's popularity. Practically all modern day guitarists will adopt the blues scales within their music. It appears easy but is difficult to master as it needs to be played with feeling that cannot be written in any sheet music.
